Recently in international sport, there have been dramatic examples of how devastating the impact of mismanaged anti-doping and safeguarding can be. It tarnishes the image of sports and destroys trust. No federation should underestimate the legal and financial ramifications of failing to govern. This presentation by the IMMAF CEO addresses the risks of poor governance and highlights the critical areas that National Federations must focus on to avoid them.

ANTI-DOPING: NATIONAL FEDERATION RESPONSIBILITIES UNDER THE 2021 CODE

Anti-doping: National Federation Responsibilities Under the 2021 Code
Michele Verroken, IMMAF Anti-doping Consultant
contact:
[email protected]

National Federations are obliged to adopt anti-doping regulations covering their members which are consistent with IMMAF’s anti-doping policy.  It is also important to partner with the National Anti-Doping Organisation to implement three key areas:

  • Policy commitment
  • Education and Information
  • Reinforcement of the policy, through testing, medications review and approval (TUE), results and sanctions management, fair association and hosting standards.

This 3 step approach will ensure that national federations support IMMAF’s compliance with the World Anti-Doping Code and its international recognition as a Fair and Clean sport.  Importantly guidance is available from IMMAF to help national bodies protect their members from doping.

Anti-Doping is a mandatory policy in many countries, ensuring you meet your commitments will support national recognition, will encourage membership and promote the health and safety of your athletes.
