(London. May 30th 2015) Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al Khalifa this year, Bahrain has launched the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation. IMMAF is proud to welcome the organization as a member. With a board currently consisting of founding members and a working technical committee, the organization’s goal is to build a strong foundation for Mixed Martial Arts in Bahrain through Amateur competitions and National Championships. Through this the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation plans to build a great future for the sport in Bahrain, making it one of the hubs for MMA in the Gulf region. The Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation has worked closely with the All India MMA Association since inception to develop its infrastructure. It successfully conducted the final round of its National MMA Tryouts under IMMAF Amateur rules on 28th May in order to select the Bahrain National MMA team. The All India Mixed Martial Arts Association has overseen all stages of the selections and has also been charged with conducting MMA officials’ workshops and training programs in the kingdom. IMMAF CEO, Densign White, was in attendance at the finals. Mohammed Shahid is the Bahraini federation’s Chief Delegate. The first professional MMA athlete to compete out of Bahrain, he is now an experienced coach and owner of the country’s number one Mixed Martial Arts training facility under His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al Khalifa. Mohammed Shahid said: “The Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation is proud to be a part of the IMMAF and, with the support of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad al Khalifa, we are excited to build a strong foundation for Amateur Mixed Martial Arts in the Kingdom Of Bahrain.” Bahrain’s first national MMA team will be participating in the 2015 IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA at UFC® International Fight Week in Las Vegas this July.
