IMMAF President Kerrith Brown recently completed a working visit to Malaysia, where he met with the newly appointed leadership of the Malaysian Mixed Martial Arts Federation to explore opportunities for future collaboration and event development.
During the visit, President Brown held a series of productive meetings focused on strengthening the relationship between IMMAF and the Malaysian federation, with discussions centred on the potential hosting of future IMMAF events. Topics included the possibility of a Malaysian Open in the short term and, longer term, the development of an IMMAF Grand Slam event.
Meetings with board representatives, including members based in Ipoh, highlighted a strong understanding of IMMAF’s event framework, governance standards, and long-term strategic vision for amateur MMA. The discussions reflected a shared commitment to structured growth, athlete welfare, and international best practice.
Alongside Mr William and Mr Lee, President Brown also conducted site visits to proposed venues and nearby accommodation. The facilities reviewed were of a high standard, with hotels located within walking distance of the competition venue, supported by appropriate security measures and comprehensive event preparation capabilities.
The visit concluded on a positive note, with all parties recognising the strong potential for Malaysia to host future IMMAF events. A provisional timeline for further development has been identified, with Q4 2026 or Q1 2027 considered as possible windows for delivery.
