FEDOARMIX Receives Official Recognition from Dominican Ministry of Sports

The Dominican Federation of Mixed Martial Arts (FEDOARMIX) has received official recognition from the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MIDEREC).

On 28 January 2026, the Vice Minister of Sports of the Dominican Republic, Mr Evaristo Pérez, formally presented a Certificate of Recognition to a FEDOARMIX delegation, confirming its status as the officially recognised governing body for Mixed Martial Arts in the country.

The delegation was led by FEDOARMIX President Manuel Pagán and included Secretary General Juan Jansen and Treasurer Eurípides Duval.

FEDOARMIX is the sole officially recognised federation for Mixed Martial Arts in the Dominican Republic and is affiliated with the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF), having become an IMMAF member on 27 September 2019. The federation was founded on 16 January 2018 and formally incorporated on 25 September 2020.

Organised MMA development in the country began earlier through the MMA Gold League, established in 2016, which now includes more than 15 affiliated schools nationwide.

IMMAF President Kerrith Brown stated the following in response to the news:

“This is a major milestone for MMA in the Dominican Republic and a testament to the dedication, professionalism, and persistence shown by the federation’s leadership and wider team… Securing official recognition from the Sports Ministry is a significant achievement and reflects the strong governance foundations you have built.”

Since its affiliation with IMMAF, FEDOARMIX has participated in multiple international championships, achieving notable competitive success. These results include five medals at the IMMAF Pan American Championships, comprising two bronze medals, one silver, and one gold, as well as a bronze medal at the IMMAF World Championships held on 26 September 2025.

The federation’s technical and officiating structures continue to develop in parallel. FEDOARMIX includes the only Dominican referee certified by IMMAF at both Pan American and World Championship levels, Mr Juan Jansen, and more than 15 coaches who hold internationally recognised IMMAF certifications.

In addition to his national role, FEDOARMIX President Manuel Pagán currently serves as Secretary General of the Pan American Mixed Martial Arts Confederation (PCMMA), further strengthening the federation’s position within the continental and global MMA framework.
