The spotlight was on IMMAF alumni at EFC 124, where a thrilling night of action unfolded in Sandton, South Africa.
South Africa’s Coenie Lamprecht (1-0), who captured the world’s attention by claiming five straight submission victories at the 2024 IMMAF Youth World Championships and securing gold for his effort, made his much-anticipated professional debut.
At just 18 years old, Lamprecht transitioned to the pro ranks following a final amateur bout in March. His debut was nothing short of spectacular: the BJJ specialist locked in a slick triangle armbar, securing the win in the very first round. Lamprecht instantly positioned himself as one of South Africa’s brightest flyweight prospects, putting the spotlight back on IMMAF as a pipeline of elite talent.
Competing in the lightweight division, former Africa champion Osvaldo Benedito (3-1), returned to action after suffering his first career loss. The Angolan standout wasted no time, dispatching Kevin Pretorius (3-1) with a guillotine choke just 27 seconds into the fight, handing Pretorius his first professional defeat.
Also featured was 2024 IMMAF Africa bantamweight champion Sisa Jungula (2-0), who earned a stunning second-round knockout in his sophomore pro appearance. The South African showed devastating power, ending the fight cleanly without the need for follow-up strikes.
Rounding out the alumni appearances, Kelvin Smit (4-3) went the distance but ultimately dropped a decision on the same card.
It was a strong showing for IMMAF graduates overall. South Africa appears to have found a rising star in Coenie Lamprecht and anticipation is already building for his next outing, while Sisa Jungula and Osvaldo Benedito shined in their respective bouts.
