IMMAF Launches New Safeguarding Courses Ahead Of 2025 European Championships

The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) is reinforcing its commitment to athlete safety and well-being by introducing two specialized Safeguarding Courses for its members. These courses are designed to educate and equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure a safe and inclusive sporting environment at IMMAF events.

IMMAF has developed two distinct safeguarding courses to address the needs of different groups within the organization:

For Coaches and Teams: This course is designed to help coaches and team members understand their responsibilities in maintaining a safe environment for athletes, particularly youth competitors.

For IMMAF Staff & Event Personnel: This version is tailored for officials, medical personnel, media teams, volunteers, and event operations staff, ensuring all personnel involved in IMMAF events uphold the highest standards of athlete welfare.

The safeguarding courses are based on IMMAF’s established safeguarding policies and procedures. By completing the course, participants will be able to:

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes and vulnerable individuals at IMMAF events.
  • Demonstrate appropriate behaviour and interaction with athletes, with a strong focus on youth athletes.
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety risks within the competition and training environment.
  • Respond appropriately when someone comes forward with a safeguarding concern.

IMMAF is committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all individuals involved in the sport, with a particular focus on athletes, children, and vulnerable people. While the Safeguarding Courses will initially be prioritized for youth coaches and IMMAF staff due to limited capacity, they will be a compulsory requirement for all coaches and staff participating in the World Youth Championship later this year. As IMMAF continues to expand its safeguarding initiatives, further access will be made available to more members in the future.
