In a historic move for the ecosystem of the IMMAF (International Mixed Martial Arts Federation), the Pan-American Federation became the first continental federation to host elections for presidency and board members.
The first Electoral General Assembly took place last Thursday, May 16, and was held under the supervision of a legal team to further prove the legitimacy of the process, which is now serving a stepping stone for the development of continental federations across the globe.
Mr. Ubaldo Marroquin (pictured above), from Mexico, was elected president of the Confederación Panamericana de Artes Marciales Mixtas, the Pan-American MMA Confederation, under the IMMAF.
Mr. Jason Fraser, from Trinidad and Tobago, was elected vice-president 1, Mrs. Yariela Mendoza, from Panama, was elected vice-president 2.
Furthermore, there have been key appointments in elected positions, such as General Secretary (Manuel Pagan, from the Dominican Republic), Treasury (Jaime Baron, from Colombia), North American Director (Jim Nightingale, from the United States), Central America Director (Jean Carlo Cerrato, from El Salvador), Caribbean Director (Chacko Wilmont, from Jamaica), South American Director (Gorky Esteban Rodriguez, from Ecuador), Vocal Members 1 & 2 (Mauricio Delgado, from Venezuela, and Nelson Magalhaes, from Brazil).
IMMAF president Kerrith Brown sent a cable of congratulations to the entire Pan-American confederation on the success of the first continental electoral general assembly and said he was looking forward to a great future with the leadership of the entire Pan-American MMA community.
Newly-elected Pan-American president Ubaldo Marroquin, on his part, thanked the support of his peers and the IMMAF, and pleaded to lead the way in the development of the sport in the Americas.
