IMMAF Announces 2023 Asian Championships In Bahrain

The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) has announced that the 2023 IMMAF Asian Championships will take place from the 10-16 December as part of the BRAVE CF International Combat Week.

The event will be held in Bahrain at the Khalifa Sports City Arena and will feature brackets for Senior (18+), Junior (U21), and Youth (U18) athletes.

The Asian MMA Federation (AMMAF), comprised of directors representing five regions in collaborative roles, will assume responsibility for overseeing the event, guaranteeing that every facet of the Asia Championships will be executed to the utmost standards of excellence.

Over the past few years, Bahrain has become a key player in the world of amateur MMA, having hosted three IMMAF World Championships, the ground-breaking MMA Super Cup and produced several IMMAF gold medallists.

As evidence of the return on the efforts that the nation has poured into supporting their amateur scene, a host of Bahraini athletes are now breaking into the mainstream of professional MMA. Most recently, 2019 IMMAF Asian Championships gold medallist Shamil Gaziev secured a contract with the UFC after a dominant first-round finish on Dana White’s Contender Series.

One of the Asian MMA powerhouses also expected to feature are 2022 IMMAF Asian Championships hosts, Tajikistan. Having brought forth World Champions such as Muhammad Salohiddinov and Otabek Rajabov, Tajikistan once again appears destined to achieve massive success at the IMMAF Asian Championships.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE), which recently hosted the 2023 IMMAF Youth World Championships, are also slated to compete. The event served as a historical occasion, as UAE female athletes claimed gold for the first time in the nation’s history, once again demonstrating the rapid evolution of MMA in the Middle East.

The 2023 IMMAF Asian Championships will mark the third IMMAF event of 2023 held in partnership with BRAVE CF, one of the world’s top pro-MMA promotions.

The 2023 IMMAF Pan American Championships, which took place in August as part of the Brave Pan-American Combat Week, was a massive success, perfectly encapsulating the essence of the Pan-American fighting spirit. The event also served as a showcase for the current standard of MMA in Pan America, with former IMMAF champions competing in the BRAVE CF main event, while the next generation of upcoming athletes competed for gold on the IMMAF proving ground.

The BRAVE International Combat Week will not only feature the 2023 IMMAF Asian Championships but also the BRAVE CF end-of-year show, scheduled for December 15th.

The 2023 IMMAF Asian Championships will be the final IMMAF event of the year, with the 2023 IMMAF World Championships set to take place on the 19th of November.

IMMAF’s Asian nations include but are not limited to the following: Afghanistan, Bahrain, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan Chinese Taipei, Tajikistan, UAE, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
