Garcia Pinto Kinkela & Mario Stefan Defeat Former Champions To Secure Their Places In the Finals – IMMAF Africa Championships Semi-Finals

By Frank Bonada

The Semi-Finals of the 2023 International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) Africa Championships have concluded, as the very best of Africa competed for a place in the Finals.

Host nation Angola was involved in a number of exciting bouts, with some genuinely shocking upsets taking place as two former IMMAF Champions were knocked out of the tournament.

Stanislau Kakesse Wezy, the 2022 Light Heavyweight gold medallist, was submitted by IMMAF Africa newcomer Mario Stefan. Meanwhile, 2022 middleweight gold medallist Elisio Zua came up short against Garcia Pinto Kinkela via judges’ decision.

Angola will feature at least one athlete in each of tomorrow’s final bouts, with the likes of former IMMAF Africa champion Maurio Silva set to compete.

However, whilst Angola dominated the winner’s table, one of the most anticipated bouts of the days was between two fighters hailing from Namibia. Veja Hinda and Geraldo Bok, two IMMAF veterans known for exciting displays of talent and skill, faced off in the featherweight semi-finals.

Despite competing against high-level opposition in Bok, Hinda would pick up yet another lightning-fast finish, setting up an exciting bout in the finals vs. Angola’s Clelio Diogo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Cedrick Kalenga also ensured his nation will have a shot at claiming IMMAF gold, defeating Alex Nkiambi via unanimous decision victory.
