- Saturday 9 – Sunday 10 July 2022
The 2022 Oceania Championships are ready to commence following team check-in. Athletes from the three participating nations, Australia, French Polynesia and New Zealand, made their way to the Logan Metro Sports & Events Centre to register ahead of the tournament kicking off.
There are forty entries across thirteen divisions.
The semi-finals will kick off tomorrow, followed by the finals on Sunday. The hosts Australia have the largest squad of the group with seventeen athletes, closely followed by New Zealand’s team of fifteen.
The finalised list of competing athletes can be found below:

Opening the competition will be a bout between Australia’s Briar Mafileo and New Zealand’s Amena Hadaya. Neither of them has competed on the IMMAF platform and will set up a gold medal match-up with a victory. Taramu Tinirau will be the first French Polynesian athlete in action. He will face off with Australia’s Antonio Pascalis Cutri in the highly competitive featherweight division.
The standout bout on the opening day is the twelfth on the schedule when 2021 IMMAF Middleweight World Champion Fergus Jenkins makes his maiden Oceania Championships appearance against Australia’s Loni Doyle Filimoehala. Filimoehala came second at the last set of Oceania Championships back in 2020 and even held the XFC Middleweight belt that is currently held by New Zealand’s Jenkins.
The all-Aussie clash between Auryn Parmley and Sekope Meke is one to keep tabs on. Parmley was impressive at both the MMA SuperCup and 2021 World Championships and will have a target on his back as Meke looks to make a statement in his IMMAF debut.
