IMMAF Virtual Technical Seminar Week – Day Three

IMMAF HOSTS MMA FIT® VIRTUAL WORK-OUT & ALL COMMISSIONS MEETING

The third day of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation’s annual Technical Seminar Week commenced with a virtual MMA FIT® work-out class, with attendees joining from around the world.

Led by IMMAF Board Director, Bertrand Amoussou, the dance-based, MMA-inspired, aerobic work-out got the IMMAF membership moving to uplifting tunes, with virtual stage appearances from a dancing IMMAF President Kerrith Brown and Anti-doping Consultant Michele Verroken.

Coaches’ certificated training in MMA FIT® will be available shortly to members, so they can offer the classes to recreational gym attendees. Current programmes include MMA FIT Punch® and MMA FIT Shadow®. MMA FIT Power®, MMA FIT HIT®, MMA FIT Groove®, MMA FIT Zen®, MMA FIT Kid, and MMA FIT Battles® will also be coming soon. For more information visit mmafit.org

Moving onto governance matters, the IMMAF membership team, headed by Gosha Malik, led a seminar on “Cultivating your National Membership” with a presentation from Giles Goodwin of Global Sports Technology (GST) plus national case studies. GST is partnered with IMMAF for the provision of a new Customer Relations Management System, currently under pilot. The IMMAF membership package, available on the platform, is targeted at individual sport participants signing up to their National Federations, giving them access to IMMAF courses, course materials, the gradings system, licenses and registration for IMMAF tournaments. It includes additional member benefits, such as a subscription to IMMAF TV.

The day closed with an all Commissions’ Catch Up Meeting, in replacement of the annual Commissions’ Congress that was to take place at the cancelled World Championships. The session brought together the Chairs and Staff Liaisons of IMMAF’s 17 committees that were established or reformed this year, for the purpose of sharing an overview of their work and to create opportunities for the pooling of expertise.

Participating committees were the: Athletes’ Commission; Business Development Commission; Communications and Marketing Commission; Competition Bidding Commission; Ethics Commission; Peace Through MMA Commission; Women’s Commission; Youth Development Commission; Anti-doping Committee; Anti-doping Disciplinary Committee; Arbitration Committee; Disciplinary Committee; Financial Audit Committee; Nominations Committee; Coaching Commission; Medical Commission; and Regulatory Affairs Commission.

IMMAF’s Technical Seminar week continues tomorrow (Thursday 15) for Day 4 which includes a medical session entitled “COVID – What we know, what we can do,” and a 2020 update on concussion. Tomorrow’s programme also features world renowned MMA referee and IMMAF Director of Regulatory Affairs, Marc Goddard on “Why Regulatory Pathways are Essential”.

IMMAF members interested in attending any seminars, should contact their National Federation for information.
