IMMAF veterans continue winning ways at Brave 38

Veterans of IMMAF’s international Amateur MMA platform continued their winning ways as professional MMA standouts at BRAVE CF 38 in Sweden. Following last week’s clean sweep of victories for IMMAF alumni at BRAVE 37, the organisation’s collaboration with Bulldog Fight Night continued in Stockholm on Saturday, August 8.

At amateur MMA’s top-flight England’s PK Zadeh reached the quarterfinals of the 2017 IMMAF World Championships and scored wins over top featherweight standout Enrique Hecher Sosa of Spain, and Kazakhstan’s Neimat Asadov. Zadeh crashed out of the World Championships under controversial circumstances due to a contested submission while fending off an arm-bar against Luxembourg’s Jose Teixeira. Now a professional up-and-comer Zadeh moves to 3-0, remaining undefeated with superior grappling seeing him through to a unanimous decision win.

Jonny Touma spent two years as an exciting fixture of the Swedish national team under the IMMAF banner as a multiple-time World Championships contender and bronze medallist of the 2018 European Open. Touma’s enthusiasm for high-octane striking was on display, landing double spinning-back-fists to rock Moheb Azizi. While Azizi remained highly game and in the fight, the dynamic action continued to play out with Touma progressing to clinch a unanimous decision triumph.

Team Sweden vet Elin Öberg had a short tenure at the IMMAF level before turning pro, yet we would have loved to see more of her. A split-decision loss to Finland’s Janika Antinmaa at the 2018 European Open was Öberg’s first and only appearance, and she has since transitioned to become a destroyer of top prospects, making her pro debut in 2018 with a 6-second KO of former IMMAF world champion Anna Astvik and later with a doctor stoppage over perennial IMMAF medallist Anette Österberg. Öberg bounced back in fine form from a first professional loss as she stormed through a war to powerfully out-strike the very noteworthy Malin Hermansson.

Former European Open finalist and world bronze medallist Issa Isakov was a long-standing top contender of the international IMMAF platform, representing Belgium with over 15 amateur victories. His success continues now as a 6-1 professional with a unanimous decision win over experienced Dutchman Djamil Chan (15-7).
