IMMAF champion Leah McCourt gets pro debut opponent

By IMMAF.org lead writer, Jorden Curran Following months of speculation full details are now confirmed for the professional MMA debut of IMMAF World and former European Open amateur champion Leah McCourt. Standout European promotion, Cage Warriors Fighting Championships, revealed that Northern Ireland’s McCourt will face former Olympic judoka, 31-year-old Rizlen Zouak. The French born, Moroccan competitor is a veteran of the 2012 London Olympics. The bout is set for CWFC 85 in Bournemouth, UK, June 24. In February MMAPlus.co.uk reported indications of CWFC owner Graham Boylan showing interest the top amateur prospect. Leah McCourt CWFC debutThe 24-year-old, herself a judo black belt, was first announced on IMMAF’s international platform at the 2015 European Open in Birmingham, UK, where she claimed a first gold medal in the Women’s lightweight division. In 2016 the Ulster girl cemented herself as one for the future, competing at the IMMAF World Championships in Las Vegas, USA, she dropped to the featherweight bracket to take gold once again with a trio of victories, all via first round stoppage. McCourt also made history as the first athlete to win an IMMAF gold medal in two separate weight divisions. In addition to her MMA accolades, McCourt has soared on the submission grappling stage, in late 2016 she took the IBJJF World Championships by storm in San Fransisco, USA, to earn the featherweight gold medal. McCourt has remained inactive since her IMMAF World Championships triumph last July, and is now fully recovered from knee surgery that likely played a role in choosing her next step. The highly touted competitor and mother of one has been fondly taken in by Irish media with several television appearances and is now all set to showcase herself in what has been an eagerly anticipated professional debut.
