Maria Brown serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the South African Police Service within the Crime Intelligence She has Division and is a respected leader in international combat sport. With more than three decades of public service and an extensive record in martial arts administration, she brings a disciplined, structured, and athlete focused perspective to her role within the Commission.
She has contributed to combat sports as an IMMAF Certified Official, IMMAF Level 1 Coach, MMA South Africa Official, SAKA (Kickboxing) Certified Referee, and former national level kickboxing competitor. Her experience includes officiating at IMMAF World Championship events, serving as National Team Manager for South Africa, and holding the position of General Secretary of MMA South Africa for 5 years, where she supported national policy alignment, athlete selection processes, safeguarding standards, and federation governance.
Served as both Executive member and Chairperson of the South African Police Service Martial Arts Association (SAPS), where she played a key role in expanding officer participation, strengthening competition structures, and promoting the development of martial arts within South African Police Service Martial Arts Association (SAPS). Her ongoing commitment to integrity, development, and professional conduct reflects IMMAF’s values and the Commission’s long-term vision.
