Subject to clearance by IMMAF,  the Norwegian Mixed Martial Arts Federation is set to be represented by 12 athletes, including (2) female competitors for the first time. The Norwegian team picked up 3 silver medals and 1 bronze in the inaugural 2014 IMMAF World Championships in Las Vegas, with silvers scored by Eivind D. S. Kjonsvik (Men’s Light Heavyweight), Gard Olve Sagen (Men’s Middleweight) and  Kristian Lindstrøm Skogmo (Men’s Flyweight). Joachim Tollefsen earned bronze in the Men’s Welterweight category. The team did not compete in this year’s world championships, and will be looking to make a dent in the recently launched IMMAF World Amateur MMA Rankings. Full contact MMA competition is not legal in Norway, and only technical sparring contests are permitted by the government in NMMAF licensed gyms. However, both amateur and professional Norwegian athletes are known for achieving well in matches outside the country.  Team welterweight, Jørgen Indsetviken, recently came home victorious from a full contact bout in England on BCMMA 12, sanctioned the the United Kingdom Mixed Martial Arts Federation.
