IMMAF President’s End of Year Message & Review

2016 has been a momentous year for IMMAF as a federation, a family and the MMA community as a whole. Over the past 12 months we as a federation have not only grown in numbers but also in stature as we welcomed new countries and federations into our family, enhancing the rich vein of talent that runs through IMMAF’s membership. The talent of the athletes has been celebrated with the hosting of the European Open, African Open and World Championships, shared by the wider MMA community. We as a Federation have continued in our development, and also our duty of care to you, our Members, through our drive for recognition and regulation, increase in medical standards, accreditation for all officials and delivery of educational courses tailored to individual needs. We also continued in our quest to become a signatory of WADA and a member of SportAccord. The continued support from funding partners UFC and IMG-WME, and collaboration with further sponsors and partners, ensures that IMMAF can continue in its drive for recognition and the regulation of the sport of MMA. Success this year has been due to the dedicated presidents and members of each federation whose continued collaboration and support has enabled us to drive the vision forward, indeed gathering momentum as we move into 2017. For me personally, 2016 has been a year of extensive travel, in which I have been fortunate enough to experience a warm welcome from Presidents and Federations worldwide, and have encountered those from many different counties and cultures who share an immense passion for the sport of MMA. I would like to thank our Board Members, the IMMAF team and CEO Densign White for all their hard work and dedication over the past year, which has armed me with the firm belief that together we can succeed in bridging divides within and around the sport of MMA. On behalf of IMMAF, may I thank you all for your support over 2016. Wishing you all joy, peace and happiness over the festive season & a prosperous New Year, here’s to a successful 2017. Yours in MMA, Kerrith Brown IMMAF President
