The 2018 IMMAF – WMMAA Unified World Championships took place at Khalifa Sport City arena in Manama, Bahrain from 11 to 18 November 2018, hosted by the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation and with support from the Bahrain Olympic Committee, as part of BRAVE Combat Week.
The Championships included two simultaneous tournaments, the Senior World Championships for 18s and overs, and the inaugural Junior World Championships for 18s to 20s.
The nation vs nation tournaments followed the IMMAF Championships format across 5 days and 14 weight divisions, and took place under the Unified Amateur MMA Rules. Preliminaries ran from 12 to 15 November, breaking for professional MMA event BRAVE 18 on 16, and concluded with the Finals on 17.
Following IMMAF’s merger with WMMAA and expansion to a combined 83 member nations, the 2018 World Championships saw the unification WMMAA and IMMAF champions and a shake-up of the IMMAF World Amateur MMA Rankings as the talent pool deepens.
