Busy Qualifying Schedule for Colombian Athletes

In December of 2015 the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation announced the Colombian Association of Mixed Martial Arts (OCAMM) as the latest organization to join the list of IMMAF Member Nations. National competition is in full swing for the country’s amateur mixed martial artists ahead of IMMAF championships in 2016. Widespread qualification for Colombia’s national amateur MMA team kicked off in early March and has continued with a busy schedule of regional qualification tournaments, building  up to final regional eliminators on March 19. On March 3 regional tryouts first took place in the Colombian regions of Bogotá, Valledupar, Villavicencio and Cundinamarca, and were regulated by the respective OCAMM regional nodes. Each region then hosted elimination tournaments on March 12 prior to the final regional eliminators on March 19. The final Prenational Tournaments will take place in Bogotá on April 23 with the OCAMM National Championships taking place on June 11 where representatives of the Colombian National Amateur Team will be decided. Both the Prenational and National Championships will be regulated by the OCAMM Technical Committee.
