The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with MMARAP (Mixed Martial Arts for Reform And Progression) to bring inclusivity to the forefront of mixed martial arts. This collaboration will see the adoption of MMARAP’s DILEMMA program, Disability, Inclusion, Learning & Empathy for Mixed Martial Arts.
Scheduled for early 2025, the inaugural DILEMMA event will provide comprehensive awareness training for MMA coaches and practitioners, equipping them with the skills and awareness needed to create a more inclusive sporting environment.
Key areas covered in DILEMMA’s awareness training include:
• Understanding physical disabilities, mental health conditions, and learning difficulties.
• Engaging with empathy to foster a supportive atmosphere.
• Tailoring MMA exercises and practices to meet diverse needs.
By the end of the program, participants will gain valuable insights into the positive impact of MMA on people with disabilities and how to adapt their coaching methods to support wider participation.
As part of this partnership, IMMAF will also establish a Disability/Sport for All Commission, chaired by Jonathan Buffong. The commission aims to ensure ongoing progress in creating an inclusive MMA community, advocating for equal opportunities for all athletes regardless of their abilities.
MMARAP, known for its innovative work in promoting reform and progression through MMA, brings a wealth of experience to the partnership. Their DILEMMA program has already garnered praise for its holistic approach to fostering empathy and understanding within the MMA community.
The DILEMMA event and the formation of the Disability/Sport for All Commission signal IMMAF’s ongoing commitment to expanding access and breaking down barriers in MMA.
