IMMAF European Medalists welcomed back in Azerbaijan by National Minister of Sports

Young amateur stars Bilal Alosmanov and Esmira Mammadova returned as heroes to their native Azerbaijan following an epic campaign at the 2024 IMMAF European Championships, in Serbia. Both athletes were welcomed by Mr. Farid Gayibov, Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan.

During the visit, which was also attended by the Azerbaijan MMA Federation president, Mr. Rovshan Gasanov, the athletes received congratulations for their performances at the premier amateur tournament in the European continent, as Ms. Mammadova won Gold Medal at the Women’s Featherweight Junior division while Mr. Alosmanov won Silver Medal at the Boys’ Flyweight division in the Youth A category.

‘’I congratulate our champions and express gratitude to Mr. Roshan Gasanov for this remarkable victory’’, said Mr. Gayibov.

In turn, Mr. Gasanov also spoke on the success of the small Azerbaijani team at the 2024 IMMAF European Championships but said the federation already has their eyes set on the next big tournaments in which there will be Azerbaijani representation.

Mr. Gasanov said he was hopeful of good performances in both the Youth World Championship, which takes place in Abu Dhabi, and the IMMAF Juniors and Seniors World Championships, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

“Our teams are gearing up to deliver their best performance at the upcoming Youth World Championship in Abu Dhabi and Juniors and Seniors World Championship in Tashkent.”
