Pound for pound number one Ramazan Gtitinov is set to compete in IMMAF for the final time at the 2022 World Championships Senior Finals as he looks to become a three-time world champion.
The welterweight standout, representing Bahrain, has not lost since 2017 and has built up an extensive list of accolades. His current win streak spans twenty-nine wins and could set quite the record by hitting thirty.
His final IMMAF event has seen him win three bouts, with one of them being a submission victory. Ahead of his final amateur bout, he said:
“My plan is to win the gold medal and then become the pound-for-pound number one professional.”
His IMMAF career has been long, and he is very thankful to the world governing body for giving him the platform and opportunity to compete on the international stage.
“I’m feeling great, I’ve been in IMMAF for over five years, and I want to make history by becoming a three-time World champion.”
“I’m very thankful to IMMAF for the opportunity they have given me to show myself internationally.”
Gitinov’s style is incredible to watch. His striking is sharp and can allow him to close the distance, where he can show some of his greatest work. His overall wrestling and grappling ability can be likened to Islam Makhachev, and his use of the Dagestani handcuff is expertly done and a joy to watch in the amateur ranks.
The KHK MMA athlete has all the potential to make it to the very top and a very bright future in the sport. However, first, he must face Munis Muminjonov in the final of the 2022 World Championships, a tough bout that could be the perfect way for him to round out his amateur career.
