The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation today announced the provisional list of national teams and athletes competing in the 2022 IMMAF Asian Championships, which will be broadcast live from Dushanbe City, Tajikistan, on immaf.tv between 27 – 30 October.
Hosted by the Tajikistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation (TAJMMAF) at the Kasri Tennis Va Machmaai Varzishi Obi. This tournament will be closed to Asian nations. Two of the top ten ranked senior nations, Kazakhstan and Bahrain, will be in action.
Host nation Tajikistan will bring a large squad that includes national team standouts Otabek Rajabov and Jovidon Mahmudov.
The Bahrain team includes the top two ranked pound for pound athletes, Ramazan Gitinov and Sabrina De Sousa. In the Kazakhstan team, 2021 world gold medalist Yersultan Shakenbay moves up to flyweight in hope of adding a third IMMAF medal to his collection.
Both Hazem and Zaki Kayyali are the only representatives on the Jordan team. Hazem Kayyali was a breakout star in 2021, and Zaki is making his first appearance in the junior ranks since graduating from the youth setup.
After impressing at the World Championships, Pakistan will return looking to build on their success. The competition will also see Turkmenistan enter their first senior team of the IMMAF platform.
