Two new members have been accepted by the IMMAF Board this week – the Palestinian MMA Committee and the Korean MMA Federation.
PALESTINIAN MMA COMMITTEE
Registered in Ramallah, the Palestinian MMA Committee is housed under the Palestinian Federation of Kickboxing, established in 1990 and recognised by the Palestine Olympic Committee.
Headed by President Samir Athamna, the committee’s primary stated goal is to motivate its nation’s athletes to practice mixed martial arts and to produce champions.
Member clubs include Fahed Sporting, Oxygen Gym, Alkhalil, Alaqsa Academy Center, Northern Asira Sports Club and Rock Sporting Gym.
President Samir Athamna said: “We were very pleased to receive the news of Palestine’s official accession to IMMAF, and on this occasion, we would like to thank IMMAF President Mr. Brown and we look forward to IMMAF’s support of the development of MMA as a sport in Palestine.
KOREA MIXED MARTIAL ARTS FEDERATION
The Korean Mixed Martial Arts Federation re-joined IMMAF this week under the presidency of Dae Ryeong Kim.
With a Head Office in Seoul, the KMMAF stands recognised by its Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Active in carrying out all the functions of a national federation, the KMMAF holds competitions at least once every two months with the backing of local governments.
Its current member gyms are: All Stadium, Sillim Kukje Gym, Mia Kukje Gym, Seongbuk-Gu Kukje Gym, Jeong Hoon Mma Gym, Marine City Hongjin Gymnasium, Atom MMAGym, KTM GYM, Kang Ju MMA Gym and Korean Martial Arts Academy.
IMMAF President Kerrith Brown said: “I am pleased to see IMMAF’s continued expansion in Asia following the formation of our Asian MMA Federation and ahead of our Asian Championships next month. Our impact in the region is set to accelerate again.”
