Today the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation continues to celebrate its 10 Year anniversary with the release of the first in a five-part video series charting its rise, Episode 1 – IMMAF: The Beginning.
Since its birth in Sweden in 2012, the amateur world governing body has established itself as one of the ultimate platforms for MMA’s rising stars. Episode 1 tells the story of IMMAF’s inception and UFC’s role in supporting the vision of its founders (former President August Wallen and Vice-president George Sallfeldt) through the eyes of Sallfeldt and original board members, Bertrand Amoussou and Tom Madsen, alongside UFC Chief Operating Officer, Lawrence Epstein.
Across five episodes, the series aims to tell IMMAF’s story, recounting its challenges and celebrating its achievements through the voices of behind-the-scenes pioneers who have made significant contributions to the global development of MMA and who continue to shape the sport’s direction today. Episode 2 will focus on the inaugural 2014 World Championships at UFC Fight Week in Vegas, the first international, amateur tournament of its kind that set numerous precedents in the sport. Episode 3 introduces today’s frontmen, President Kerrith Brown and CEO Densign White, as the judo Olympians who took the helm in 2014/2015 to advance IMMAF in its quest for Olympic Movement recognition. Episode 4 expands the narrative beyond Europe to document IMMAF’s growth into Africa, Asia and Oceania from 2015 on, in the words of its regional directors, while Episode 5 engages with some of IMMAF’s best-known athletes and looks at how IMMAF is producing the next generation of elite talent in MMA.
