The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) is pleased to announce its 2022 IMMAF Pan American Championships, as registration opens for Athletes and National Teams today. The three-day MMA tournament will take place in Monterrey, Mexico from 22 – 24 June (with athlete check-in and the Tournament Draw on 21 June).
Those wishing to compete should contact their National Federation for information. The deadline for entries is Friday 20 May.
Hosted by FAMMEJL (the Mexican Federation of Mixed Martial Arts) at the Gimnasio Nuevo León Independiente hotel, the nations Continental Championships provides opportunity for Pan American athletes to experience international level competition close to home soil. The event will be IMMAF’s first Pan American tournament since before the pandemic, back in 2019.
IMMAF’s Pan American member nations include Argentina, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Cayman Islands, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, St. Martin, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay, United States of America and Venezuela.
The United States has produced notable past World Champions that include Jose Torres, Will Starks and Benjamin Bennett; while Team Canada has also enjoyed top-level success with athletes that include Alexander Martinez and Jett Grande. Michele Oliveira, Carlos Veras and Amanda Ribas have triumphed with Gold for Brazil. Meanwhile, host nation Mexico has seen its women, in particular, scoop up World medals through Sara Cova, Nadia Vera, Daniela Hernandez and more recently, Valeria Gomez, while Diego Torres earned a bronze medal in the 2021 Worlds.
Elite amateurs from across Pan America are welcomed to enter. Participation in IMMAF Continental Championships accrues ranking points for athletes and teams in the World Amateur MMA Rankings, with top-performing athletes seeded for the end-of-year IMMAF World Championships.

“The Americas are a region of strong focus for IMMAF in 2022 as we have been working to facilitate the relaunch of the USA federation and to foster sports development in Brazil in particular. It is right that FAMM should host our Pan American Championships as one of our strongest federations in terms of youth and athlete development and their national competition circuit. The Mexican team is known for its dynamism and for bringing the party to IMMAF events and so we expect a spirited competition atmosphere in Monterrey.”
