The Welsh MMA Association has welcomed added support from the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation to further the progress of MMA Cymru’s domestic growth and organisational development.
IMMAF Member Development Consultant, Jorden Curran, will work closely with MMA Cymru in 2022, joining the team with a view to set and manage key objectives, establishing direction for growth in areas of national membership, sport recognition and internal structure. Jorden, an expert in leadership and development of sport, recently met with MMA Cymru leaders in Swansea to present achievable avenues for progress and benefits.
MMA Cymru President, Chris Rees stated:
“I am personally very excited by the opportunity to work closely with someone as experienced as Jorden. The original vision we had for MMA Cymru is as strong as ever, however due to the unprecedented events of the last few years we have been unable to progress as much as we would have liked.
“I know that Jorden’s appointment will allow us to set the foundations for a progressive, organised national body which will not only support those already involved but also create a structure with greater accessibility and inclusivity.
“We are a proud nation and already have athletes competing at the highest levels of the sport. I know that with assistance and guidance from IMMAF, grass roots MMA in Wales will have a very bright future indeed.”
IMMAF’s Jorden Curran commented:
“Having observed the progress of MMA Cymru since its inception and following meetings with various stakeholders within the organisation, it’s clear to me that Welsh MMA has a passionate community that is motivated to see a national body flourish. I believe that Welsh MMA clearly possesses all of the tools in order for this to happen and by engaging the community and putting the right tools in people’s hands, it can be achieved.
“MMA Cymru has a current core team of wonderful individuals with diverse abilities and a strong appetite to see the organisation evolve and open up. I aim to help MMA Cymru establish a clear vision by aligning resources and structure for essential areas of organisational progress and to further engage with the Welsh MMA community, establishing foundations for a historic AGM later in the year.”
