The German Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GEMMAF) held their first regional amateur tournament of 2021, The Central German Championships, on 17th July with over 50 competitors entered the tournament in Göttingen across 6 divisions.
In the sole women’s division of the tournament, IMMAF standout, Anna Gaul added yet another medal to her already stacked collection. The Randori Pro Berlin fighter has been competing in IMMAF competitions since 2018. In that time she’s won two European gold medals, a junior world bronze medal and a junior world gold medal.
Gaul started her IMMAF journey in the flyweight division before dropping down to strawweight in 2019, going undefeated since. In that time she got to demonstrate her grappling ability some more, her armbar being one of the more lethal tools in her grappling game.
Over in the Men’s divisions Choke gym dominated the medals table, securing three of the six gold medals on offer at the tournament. Brothers Elberd and Adam Sigauri along with Thommy Trân taking home the gold for their gym. The Sigauri brothers both secured submissions in the semi-final bouts. Elberd followed that up with a TKO/KO win in the final while Adam outpointed his opponent. All of the Choke representatives displayed very mature, well-rounded performances.
David Piechaczek & Lukas Maier took home the remaining gold medals. Each of them had to overcome stacked divisions to get the win. Maier looked strong in his bouts, finishing two of his fights exhibiting a wide array of strikes and picking his shots well.
