FIGMMA Finale: Italy's World Championship Qualifiers to be decided this weekend

Triangle Choke: Action shot from the Italian Championships of Amateur MMA in April 17final FIGMMA trials Following completion of the record breaking Italian Championships of Mixed Martial Arts in Rome on April 17, the final FIGMMA qualifiers for Italy’s National Amateur MMA Team will take place this weekend on May 7, at the Hung Mun Martial Arts Studio in the nation’s capital. The compeition will be regualted by the Italian Grappling and Mixed Martial Arts Federation (FIGMMA). With bouts taking place across eight weight categories, the top Amateur atheltes will secure qualification for a place on Team Italy ahead of the 2016 IMMAF World Championships of which take place in conjunction with the 5th Annual UFC International Fight Week and Fan Expo in Las Vegas from Tuesday, July 5 – Sunday, July 10. Returning IMMAF medalists and veterans of the National Team that qualified for the finals include Marco Zannetti, Anastasi Paolo, Lucchesini Asterio, Ilaria Norcia, Michele Martignoni, Francesco Spinola and Andrea Chiappi. Competitors’ fight gear will be provided by ADIDAS, the official sponsor of FIGMMA and Team Italy Fights are expected to start at 5pm, with finals from 8:30pm.
