James Gallagher is enjoying a fast paced start to his professional career, now undefeated at 3-0 in the space of five months. Originally from Northern Ireland, now fighting out of Dublin, Gallagher took part in the 155lb lightweight category at the 2015 IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA in Las Vegas, but was forced to withdraw due to injury following his rear-naked-choke submission victory over Team USA’s Sam Agushi. With a 5-1 amateur record Gallagher turned pro and joined the rapidly developing KHK Fight Team in Bahrain alongside IMMAF world champions Jose Torres (135lbs) and Frans Mlambo (145lbs), with the financial support of KHK founder Shaikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Gallagher competed at featherweight this past weekend at BAMMA 24 in Dublin, Ireland, against 2-2 veteran Gerard Gilmore. With a dominant grappling display Gallagher earned a third consecutive first round submission. Gallagher took down Gilmore and outworked his opposition before smoothly transitioning to his opponent’s back. He then sunk in the rear-naked-choke and squeezed for the finish, forcing the tap at 2:55 of the first round. ” …. I train hard and I believe in my abilities….That I can do what I want when I get in there,” Gallagher stated. “…There’s no dominant way like taking someone down , getting on top where he can’t hit me , but i can hit him, finish him with a submission and come out fresh.”]]>
