James Gallagher recorded his first professional MMA victory on the card of Cage Kings 3 at the Neptune Stadium in Cork, an event held under the medical guidelines of Safe MMA-Ireland. The SBG Ireland product took on fellow Irishman Denis Ahren and secured a submission victory in the opening round by way of rear-naked-choke. Gallagher’s long awaited debut in the pro ranks finally came following a string of injuries. The young contender competed at the IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA during July in Las Vegas, and secured a first round win over opponent Sam Agushi via a rear-naked-choke submission in the third round. However, Gallagher was then forced to withdraw from the competition due to injury. Following the IMMAF World Championships, Gallagher ventured to Bahrain along coach John Kavanagh and national teammate/IMMAF featherweight world champion Frans Mlambo. Shortly after, the trio were all confirmed as members of Bahrain based fight team, KHK. Gallagher spoke to Severe MMA following his first professional win. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=219&v=-iwqEKkBF5c]]>
