IMMAF) takes a look back at some of the best sportsmanship and good morals displayed across the various platforms of Mixed Martial Arts. On October 26, 2013, former UFC light-heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida made his UFC middleweight debut and faced off against a friend and training partner in Mark Munoz, in the main event of UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Munoz in Manchester, England. The bout started off as a tentative stalemate, each man well aware of the other’s expertise. Munoz was reluctant to shoot for a takedown due to Machida’s evasiveness and counter attack, while Machida threw sparingly in anticipation of his opponent’s wrestling expertise. The most significant blows came with a series of body kicks from Machida, until the Brazilian scored a left high-kick that sent Munoz to the canvas. In a great display of respect and self control, Machida held back on his finishing blows having recognised that Munoz was well beaten. The karate expert bowed to his opponent and helped Munoz to his feet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsrINz18ago [/spb_text_block]]]>
