On 12th January 2015 , the Delhi state representative body under the AIMMAA, Delhi MMA, organised its first International MMA Championships at Talkatora Indoor Stadium in New Delhi. The event began with a 2 day BJJ and MMA seminar on the 9th and 10th January. Team India head mma coach Alan Fenandes conducted the seminar. The event was supported, sponsored and organised by Chief of Delhi MMA, Sensei Yashpa Singh Kalsi. The required government permit for the sanctioning of the event was procured just 1 week before the event date and thus announcements were made soon after. Fighter registrations, medicals and and weigh-ins were conducted on the 10th January, where the second-in-command of the AIMMAA officials committee, Samuel Lalrozama, and Delhi Head Official, Suvro Basu, conducted a rules clinic and refresher course for all the MMA officials present. All protocols of fighter health and safety were adhered to at the event. Approximately 200 participants from 3 countries (India , Afghanistan and USA) participated at this event sanctioned by the All India Mixed Martial Arts Association. Male and female fighters under the age of 18 competed with light and semi contact MMA rules and those above 18 years competed in submission grappling, and under full contact Amateur and full contact Pro rules. The full contact Pro fights were conducted in an MMA ring and all other events and bouts were conducted on an open mat. The event concluded successfully and all fighters were cleared by the medical team post the event. No serious injuries were reported at the event.
