Former IMMAF World Champion Cary Miller made a successful transition to the professional ranks following an accomplished amateur career that saw him claim multiple titles.
The 28-year-old North Carolina native faced off with former undefeated amateur Jacen Edwards at Dead Serious 57. Showcasing years of experience on the IMMAF circuit, Miller claimed a decision victory in what promises to be the first step in a hugely promising professional career.
Miller wrapped up his amateur run with an impressive 15-2 record, capturing both the 2023 and 2024 IMMAF Pan American Super-Heavyweight titles, as well as winning the prestigious 2024 IMMAF World Championship. He also finished as runner-up at the 2023 World Championships.
To secure his 2024 World Championship title, Miller defeated Germany’s Joshua Homberg in his opening bout. He followed that up with a dominant performance against Francisco Escobar (Mexico), submitting him with a first-round rear-naked choke. In the finals, Miller overcame Danny Hartwell (England), who held an 11-1 record at the time, to claim the gold medal.
In addition to his MMA accolades, Miller boasts a strong wrestling background. He competed at the collegiate level for Appalachian State University, where he compiled 95 career wins, ranking eighth on the school’s all-time list. He was also a two-time NCAA Championship qualifier and a two-time Southern Conference (SoCon) Champion.
Now training out of a well-respected gym in Belmont, North Carolina, which has produced several UFC fighters and top-level professionals, Miller is poised for continued success in the heavyweight division, a weight class often hungry for emerging talent.
With a proven track record, elite grappling foundation, and world-level experience, Cary Miller is unquestionably one to watch as he embarks on the next chapter of his MMA journey.
