Thinking About Brain Fitness

In the world of sports, athletes and coaches are mostly focused on building bigger muscles, increasing speed and getting physically stronger. But when it comes to fitness, one of the body’s most powerful organs is often forgotten – the brain. Many challenges, from mental fatigue and lack of focus to concussion and sleeping difficulties, are brain related.

Hydration helps protect your brain. In contact sports, just like MMA, the brain gets knocked repeatedly – and the only way to mitigate the risk of severe brain conditions, such as concussion, is liquid. Why? Because it replenishes the fluid that surrounds and cushions the brain and spinal cord.

Your brain has a crucial role in sports. It dictates exercise-intensity and tells you when to stop. Although sometimes, you just can’t.

Wondered why you make more mistakes towards the end of a game? Because the brain becomes dehydrated and simply can’t function at its best. So, to maintain peak performance from start to finish, you need to start with a good level of electrolytes, and then replenish the electrolytes you sweat away.

It’s not smart to neglect brain fitness, and luckily our partner is very conscious about what goes on from the shoulders up. Their protocols and initiatives will be revealed to you soon, but there’s one last topic to introduce that will help you not lose sleep over your fitness…
