The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) has announced a new date and a new host nation for the 2024 IMMAF Asian Championships. The biggest continental tournament for amateur MMA is now set to take place between August 18 and August 22, in Lahore, Pakistan.
This will be the first time that the IMMAF Asian Championship is held in Pakistan and the milestone event places Pakistan among a varied group of nations, including the United States, South Africa, Czechia, Bulgaria, Singapore, Bahrain, Australia, Romania, Italy, New Zealand, Thailand, Bahamas, Russia, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Tajikistan, Colombia, Serbia, Angola, Albania, and Namibia, as hosts of IMMAF competitions.
Last year, the IMMAF Asian Championships was held in Bahrain as part of the BRAVE International Combat Week and was the final event of the 2023 calendar for the organization. Kazakhstan emerged as the most dominant force in the seniors’ category, securing five gold medals and a total medal haul of 13, while Uzbekistan excelled as the top team in the juniors’ category. Pakistan, gearing up to host the upcoming Asian Championship, had secured four medals, including 1 silver and 3 bronze.
The 2024 IMMAF Asian Championships will be the fourth IMMAF event of the calendar year, following the 2024 IMMAF European Championships (in Serbia), the 2024 IMMAF African Championships (held in Namibia), and the 2024 Youth World Championships (hosted in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates).
IMMAF’s Asian contingent comprises a diverse range of nations, including but not limited to Afghanistan, Bahrain, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan (Chinese Taipei), Tajikistan, UAE, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.
