The Tajikistan MMA Federation hosted last weekend its national youth tournament in preparation for the World Youth Championships under the IMMAF, the only WADA-signatory governing body for MMA.
The tremendous success of the event was exemplified by the monumental numbers of young athletes participating, which almost exceeded 700, highlighting the Tajikistan MMA Federation’s commitment to the development of the sport on a national level.
In Dushanbe for an official meeting with Mr. Zulfikor Gulahmadzoda, the Chairman of the Committee of Youth and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan., IMMAF CEO Densign White was the guest of honor of the tournament. He was impressed with the level of organization as well as the technical level of the athletes on display throughout the weekend.
‘’It was a great visit to Tajikistan. The work being done behind the scenes to empower the sport and bring it to a new level under the Federation has been exemplary. We were happy to witness how smooth the organization of such a large-scale event was, and I was especially impressed with the technical level of these young athletes. Tajikistan can be very proud of how they are developing the sport on a national level’’, said Mr. White.
Davron Juraev, president of TAJMMAF, was happy to report that the near-700 fighter attendance broke a national record for athlete participation, fostering a new phase in the development of mixed martial arts in Tajikistan.
‘’A new participant record has been broken. The number of Youth athletes reached 700, which shows the continued commitment of our federation in providing a safe space for young athletes to develop their skillsets towards representing Tajikistan in the global stage of IMMAF’’, said Mr. Juraev.
