The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) has announced the appointment of Wissam Abi Nader, Valentina David and Mohamed Ali Qamber as the new non-executive directors of the federation.
Wissam Abi Nader, previously serving as the Asia Director, has been promoted to interim Vice-President of IMMAF. With a lifelong dedication to martial arts and a distinguished career in Judo, Wissam brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He is a 12-time consecutive Lebanese Judo champion, 1st West Asian Ju-Jitsu champion, and has achieved notable success in Sambo competitions. Wissam played a pivotal role in developing MMA in the Middle East region, founding Lebanon’s first MMA club, and spearheading the Lebanese Mixed Martial Arts Committee.
Elsewhere, Valentina David joins IMMAF as a Non-Executive Director, bringing over 15 years of expertise in trade, compliance, and global governance. Valentina’s professional background in drafting and implementing policies, coupled with her diverse sporting interests spanning swimming, dance, karate, and MMA is expected to bring a diverse range of expertise to the leadership.
Mohamed Ali Qamber, President of the Bahrain MMA Federation and Events Operation Consultant of BRAVE Combat Federation, also joins IMMAF as a Non-Executive Director. With a background in Olympic studies and extensive experience in MMA event management, Mohammed’s insights will be instrumental in advancing IMMAF’s strategic initiatives and global footprint.
The appointments follow the announcement last week, that UFC fighter and 2014 IMMAF World Champion Amanda Ribas and 2016 & 2017 IMMAF World Champion Irman Smajic, have also joined the IMMAF Board as non-executive directors in the form of athlete representatives.
The recent appointments are aligned with IMMAF’s strategic vision for the future and will serve as a huge boost for the Federation’s journey towards gaining worldwide recognition for the sport of MMA.
