During the recent BRAVE CF Kombat Kingdom 2023, the Asian MMA Federation conducted its first event seminar for technical officials. The event was held in Bahrain, hosted by the Bahrain MMA Federation along with Brave Combat Federation, and took place on the 20th & 21st of June, 2023.
The two-day course consisted of a six-hour theory session, and a six-hour practical session, as well as a theory examination.
In total, there were 35 participants, representing the following eight Nations: India, Bahrain, Saudi, Iraq, Kuwait, Indonesia, Lebanon and the United Arab Emirates.
All were awarded the Participation certificate after completion of the course by IMMAF President Kerrith Brown, Asian President Mohammed Qamber & Asian Referee Commission Chairperson Sharif Mohammed Bapu.
IMMAF Director of Development, Andrew Moshanov supported the work of the Asian MMA Federation and the positive impact on the future of IMMAF officiating in the region: “As the sport of mixed martial arts is rapidly expanding in all continents, we looking forward to increase the pool of technical officials, referees and judges willing and able to work in IMMAF youth, junior and senior events.”
The seminar has been lauded as a great success, with Asia now having over 60 qualified IMMAF & Asian Officials.
Earlier this year, IMMAF announced a new policy for bi-annual revalidation of all referees and judges holding an IMMAF licence. IMMAF President, Kerrith Brown, gave the following quote in reference to the new policy:
“We are delighted to announce the revalidation process for IMMAF-certified specialists. IMMAF is committed to creating a pathway for athletes and officials alike. This process will ensure the continuous development of specialists and that we meet the gold standard we strive to achieve at IMMAF events.”
