The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation will be live streaming its 2022 Asian Championships live and on-demand at immaf.tv next week, from 27 – 30 October from 11:00 hrs (UTC+5)
All matches from across 4 full days of elite amateur MMA action will be available worldwide from $9.99 for the Championships Pass
Hosted by the Tajikistan MMA Federation and closed to Asian nations, the senior and junior continental tournaments will be broadcast from the Kasri Tennis Va Machmaai Varzishi Ob in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
With more than 170 athletes from 13 nations registered to compete, the finalised athlete list and draw is to be confirmed on 26 October. Registered national teams include Afghanistan, Bahrain, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Mongolia, Pakistan, South Korea, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Bahrain and Kazakhstan senior teamssit at #2 and #3 respectively in the World Amateur MMA Rankings. The Bahrain team includes IMMAF’s top two ranked pound-for-pound athletes, Ramazan Gitinov and Sabrina De Sousa. In the Kazakhstan team, 2021 world gold medalist Yersultan Shakenbay moves up to flyweight in hope of adding a third IMMAF medal to his collection. Host nation Tajikistan will bring a large squad that includes national team standouts Otabek Rajabov and Jovidon Mahmudov. Both Hazem and Zaki Kayyali are the only representatives on the Jordan team. Hazem Kayyali was a breakout star in 2021, and Zaki is making his first appearance in the junior ranks since graduating from the youth divisions. After impressing at the World Championships, Pakistan will return looking to build on its success. The competition will also see Turkmenistan enter its first senior team on the IMMAF platform.
The 2022 IMMAF Asian Championships completes IMMAF’s continental calendar and will be the final event of the year ahead of the yet-to-be-announced 2022 World Championships.
