The programming includes the live broadcast of all matches from two amateur MMA, nations tournaments (Seniors and Juniors) across 3 fields of play over 5 days. Competition starts at 11:00 hrs (CEST/ UTC +2) daily with the Junior Finals taking place on Friday 30 September and Senior Finals taking place on Saturday 1 October, both with medals ceremonies. Hosted by FIGMMA (Federazione Italiana Grappling Mixed Martial Arts) the Championships have seen almost 300 athletes from 30 nations registered to compete so far. Teams registration closes later today with the provisional participants list to be published next week, ahead of athlete clearance and the tournament draws on 26 September. Each tournament features 16 weight divisions, spanning Atomweight to Lightweight for women and Strawweight to Super Heavyweight for men.
IMMAF has its strongest footprint in Europe with 6 of its European nations claiming top #10 spots in the Senior World Amateur MMA Rankings, including Sweden, Ukraine, Ireland, Spain and Italy; while Ukraine, Poland, England and Ireland sit among the top #10 junior teams. The continent has produced some of IMMAF’s best-known exports including Muhammad Mokaev (England), Leah McCourt (Northern Ireland), Jack Shore (Wales), Manon Fiorot (France) and Italian Alessio di Chirico (Italy) – IMMAF’s first gold medallist to compete in the UFC
