The 2022 Pan American Championships are locked in and ready to go following team check-in. Athletes from the ten participating nations made their way to the Gimnasio Nuevo Leon Independiente to register ahead of the tournament kicking off.
There are sixty-eight entries across sixteen divisions, each round of action to take place over the next three days. The host nation Mexico has brought the largest team with twenty-eight entries in total, followed by the United States, which has nine entries in their first senior IMMAF appearance under the United States Fight League (USFL).

Opening proceedings will be Brazil’s Giulliany Perea taking on Uruguay’s Jimena Osorio. Perea is coming into this competition on the back of a very successful start to the year after winning a silver medal at the 2021 World Championships in the flyweight division. She will be moving down a division for this tournament, while her opponent, Osorio, will be making her first IMMAF appearance.
Further down the billing, Colombia’s Walter Plazas will be looking to kickstart his run at gold against Mexico’s Said Cruz Reyes. Plazas won silver at the 2019 Pan American Championships after falling short in the final via decision. Across from him, Reyes will be aiming to make a statement and open his IMMAF account in style by defeating a former medalist.
