IMMAF top teams prepare for BRAVE SuperCup

IMMAF’s top teams are preparing for BRAVE’s first-ever MMA Super Cup in Bahrain to determine the greatest nations in amateur MMA, broadcast live on 9, 10 and 12 March 2022 at immaf.tv.

The MMA SuperCup presents amateur MMA’s top teams in a three-round, knock-out tournament with huge cash prizes on the line – US$100,000 for the winner, US$75,000 for second place and US$50,000 for third place. The money is directed at funding the development of the next generation of MMA athletes within the winning nations.

Competing teams include IMMAF’s top six ranked nations, according to the World Amateur MMA Rankings, plus two regional wildcard teams formed of top seeded IMMAF athletes from the Balkans and Arab states, as follows: RMMAU, Kazakhstan, Bahrain, Ukraine, Republic of Ireland, Tajikistan, Arab Champions and Balkan Champions.

Each team will be fielding nine athletes, due to be revealed in the run-up to the tournament. Each team match-up will consist of nine bouts between the fighters of each of male and female weight division (listed below). The team that records the most wins in nations’ match-up, will be declared the winner.

Men’s Divisions

●      Bantamweight (135lbs)

●      Featherweight (145lbs)

●      Lightweight (155lbs)

●      Welterweight (170lbs)

●      Middleweight (185lbs)

●      Light Heavyweight (205lbs)

●      Heavyweight (265lbs)

Women’s Divisions

●      Flyweight (125lbs)

●      Bantamweight (135lbs)

QUARTER FINALS DRAW ANNOUNCED

The draw is already set for the tournament’s first round, the quarter-finals, for which the four top-seeded nations according to the World Amateur MMA Rankings have been placed in opposing brackets – RMMAU, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Bahrain.

The opening day of competition will see infamous national rivals face down as Team RMMAU is set to compete against Team Ireland. Team Bahrain will take on Team Tajikistan, while Team Kazakhstan is set to meet the Balkan Champions and Team Ukraine opposes the Arab Champions.

RULES

The MMA SuperCup takes place under IMMAF Amateur MMA Rules and World Anti-Doping Agency Rules. All competitors will medically precleared by Safe MMA.

The MMA SuperCup is jointly organised by the IMMAF, KHK Sports, Bahrain MMA Federation, and BRAVE Combat Federation. It takes place between March 8 to March 12, during BRAVE International Combat Week, with BRAVE CF 57 taking place on Friday 11 and an Opening Ceremony on 8 March.
