POSITION AVAILABLE FOR FEMALE BRAND & MARKETING EXPERT
The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) has created a new Communications and Marketing Commission which brings together legends of Olympic sport journalism with promotional experts from the sport of MMA.
Adrian Warner, the Commission’s chair, was Olympic Correspondent for the BBC during the 2012 Games and previously worked for the London Evening Standard and Thomson Reuters Agency as a sport correspondent for more than 16 years, many of those based in Germany. He now works as a media consultant and as a senior University Lecturer in multi-media journalism at Northampton University.
“Our team of international journalists and experts has been put together to help with guidance on dealing successfully with the global media and helping IMMAF to attract a mass audience. They have experience of a wide range of Olympic sports in different capacities,” said Adrian.
Another Commission member with impressive sport journalism credentials is Steve Wilson, who has been Executive Director of Communications and International Relations for the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and previously worked as the European Sports editor and Olympic correspondent for Associated Press news agency, covering all major international sporting events over a 25 year period. He currently works as a communications consultant and has recently helped to deliver key projects for the IOC.
The Commission is enhanced by the entrepreneurial energy and marketing skills of two MMA experts, Martin Lewandoski and Rashid Salleh.
From his native Poland, renowned promoter Martin has built KSW into one of the biggest MMA promotions in the world over a 16-year career, as well as launching multiple broadcast and multi-media initiatives. He stands as the president of the Polish MMA Federation under IMMAF, MMA Polska.
Rashid is known in Malaysia as an actor, comedian, sportscaster and journalist, working previously with amateur MMA promotion, Malaysian Invasion, and is now president of the Malaysia Mixed Martial Arts Association (MASMMAA). His well-publicised goal is to educate the masses about the differences between amateur and professional mixed martial arts (MMA).
“The Commission is an eclectic group providing advice and guidance to the federation as it communicates the benefits and appeal of amateur MMA. One of our first major goals is to set up a scheme for young journalists from around the world who are keen to report on MMA. We want to help IMMAF provide crucial reporting experiences for young journalists at major events to develop diverse journalistic talent covering the sport in the future.”
To complete the team, IMMAF’s Communications & Marketing Commission is looking to recruit a female expert in Brand and Marketing, preferably with experience in Digital. We are currently a majority white commission and therefore keen to encourage applications from talented, qualified individuals of black and other ethnicities to strengthen our expertise in international, public relations through a more diverse team.
