A new Ethics Commission has been launched by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) as part of its constant quest for best in class governance.
The Ethics Commission will advise the IMMAF Board, and IMMAF’s CEO on organisational procedures and policy guidelines relating to ethical issues. The Commission will ensure that IMMAF acts in accordance with its Statutes and Policies including on Conflicts of Interest and Whistle-blowing. The Commission will also be responsible for the investigation of relevant complaints and work closely with IMMAF’s Disciplinary Committee.
The Commission Chair, Rebecca Khoury of Canada, has had a successful career in the world of finance and management but has also worked with non-profit organisations and in sport. She served as the President of Karate Quebec and Karate Canada and received the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Medal from the Governor General of Canada, in recognition of her contribution to Canada’s development.
“I am honoured to have this responsibility,” said Rebecca. “Like IMMAF, I believe that the right ethical framework is fundamental to creating a culture that is open, transparent and inspirational to all IMMAF’s stakeholders. For the IMMAF, it’s not just about checking boxes, it’s about walking their talk and that is inspirational, for any passionate sportsperson.”
IMMAF President Kerrith Brown said: “We are delighted to have Rebecca lead an international team which includes high-flying legal and arbitration experts with wide ranging sport and corporate experience. We are determined to make IMMAF a beacon of ethical standards in sport governance.”
