By IMMAF.org lead writer, Jorden Curran In what is a pro super-fight between former amateur standouts, IMMAF world championship gold medalists Leah McCourt and Manon Fiorot weighed in yesterday ahead of their Cage Warriors 94 bout in Antwerp, Belgium, taking place today, June 16. McCourt, who won IMMAF gold medals for Northern Ireland at the 2015 European Open and 2016 World Championships, weighed in at 137.4lbs for the 138lb catch-weight contest. Now set to make her second professional appearance with Cage Warriors, McCourt took the IMMAF platform by storm, first winning the European title at Lightweight followed by gold at the Las Vegas World Championships as a Featherweight. Throughout her amateur tenure, McCourt exhibited development of rangy striking, but it was her background as a black belt judoka that was showcased through hip tosses, top control and submission victories. France’s Fiorot, weighing in at 137.4lbs for her professional debut, competed in the Women’s Bantamweight division under IMMAF, taking silver at the 2016 Euros before she triumphed to become a 2017 World Champion. Opposite to McCourt, it is Fiorot’s ground game that is in development having transitioned to MMA as a national karate champion. It was this evasive, precision striking that took her all the way to the world title in Bahrain. McCourt vs. Fiorot can be viewed live via the official Cage Warriors Facebook page, 6pm BST, 7pm CET.]]>
