Ingibjōrg Helga Arnþórsdóttir battles for Iceland at the 2018 IMMAF European Championships

Mjölnir MMA By IMMAF.org lead writer, Jorden Curran Iceland will dispatch its latest promising export this week, to represent the nation and maintain its strong record of success at IMMAF’s European Championships. At the 2018 IMMAF Euros, flying the flag for Iceland in the Women’s Senior Flyweight division will be Ingibjōrg Helga Arnþórsdóttir (pictured).  The 29-year-old is set to make her first appearance on the international IMMAF platform, and brings an extensive martial arts background with competitive experience in karate and amateur boxing. The striking specialist follows in the footsteps Sunna Rannveig Davíðsdóttir who claimed gold herself in the Flyweight bracket, at the inaugural European Championships, hosted by the UK. Both Davíðsdóttir and Welterweight competitor Bjarki Thor Palsson secured medals for Iceland at IMMAF’s 2015 Euros, and gold continued the following year when Light-Heavyweight Egill Hjordisarson made an impression with forceful submission triumphs that saw him claim the 2016 European title in Prague. Team Iceland was absent from Euro 2017, but the nation’s talent was showcased on the IMMAF World Championships stage as Bjorn Lukas Haraldsson produced a quartet of stunning performances to reach the Middleweight finals; earning silver after going the distance with Sweden’s 2017 world champion, Khaled Laallam. Iceland are back and hunting gold once again at the IMMAF Euros, and Helga Arnþórsdóttir will have her eye set on continuing the nation’s impact on European soil. The 2018 IMMAF European Championships take place from 17-23 June in Bucharest, Romania. Form more information on national teams and weight divisions at #IMMAFEuro18 , visit MyNextMatch.com.
