Former IMMAF World Champion Targets First Pro Title At BRAVE 13

Frans Mlambo gets his first pro MMA title opportunity on June 9, two years and nine months following his transition from IMMAF amateur world champion to professional prospect. In less than a week’s time, the 26-year-old will headline the card of Brave 13: European Evolution, at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland as the Bahrain based promotion features in Europe for the first time. Mlambo’s road to his first pro title opportunity has come full circle, headlining Brave’s debut Irish showcase against Stephen Loman after the pair first went head-to-head at the organisation’s first ever event in 2016. A product of John Kavanagh’s renowned SBG Ireland gym in Dublin, South African born Mlambo, aka “The Black Mamba”, tops the bill with the card also set to feature 2016 IMMAF World silver medallist Cian Cowley, former Cage Warriors champion Karl Amoussou and UFC veteran NormanParke. This weekend, Mlambo will battle for the Brave Combat Federation Bantamweight title, in a rematch against champion Stephen “The Kid” Loman (10-2). The Pilipino standout was the last man to defeat Mlambo when securing a Unanimous Decision as they went the distance at Brave 1: The Beginning. Mlambo concluded his amateur tenure by winning the IMMAF Men’s Featherweight gold medal at the 2015 IMMAF World Championships, earning four victories in the space of five days, taking place during UFC Fight Week in Las Vegas, USA. Since then, he has gone 5-2 as a professional, becoming a top tier talent in Brave CF and looks to have settled into his stride since last facing Loman, earning the rematch with a streak of three wins, first submitting Jordan’s Jalal Al Daaja before picking up respective knockout triumphs over Brazilians Michael Deiga-Scheck and Filipe Efrain.]]>
