IMMAF WELCOMES NAMIBIA AHEAD OF 2018 AFRICA OPEN

Namibian Kickboxing and MMA Federation is the latest national body to be welcomed as a member of the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF). Based in the city of Walvis Bay, the body has seen MMA achieve recognition upon merging with the Namibian Kickboxing Federation, of which was first established in 2016 to facilitate all martial arts in Namibia and to give each and every student the opportunity to represent the nation, internationally. The body holds regular demonstrations, motivational talks, seminars and training camps in rural areas and schools, in addition to passionate projects that provide enriching experiences through combat sport for less fortunate and disabled participants. “The NKF is a very passionate federation and our students are most important to us,” the national body stated, currently headed by NKF President Anita de Klerk. IMMAF President, Kerrith Brown, added: “The reach of IMMAF continues to expand across the African continent and it is terrific to welcome Namibia with such a well-established national body. I look forward to seeing Namibia compete for the first time later this month, at the 2018 Africa Open Championships.” The 2018 IMMAF Africa Open Championships, the biggest Africa Open event to date, takes place at the Brakpan Sports Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 24 to 26 May.
