Two-time IMMAF world silver medalist Alexander Martinez attends Ultimate Fighter tryouts

By IMMAF.org lead writer, Jorden Curran ‘Two-time IMMAF World Championships finalist’ will be on his list of credentials as Alexander Martinez completes tryouts for the upcoming season of the UFC’s Ultimate Fighter. Prior to his current exploits as an undefeated pro lightweight competitor, Martinez accumulated an extensive record on the Canadian amateur circuit, including a decision triumph over 2015 IMMAF Light-Heavyweight world champion, Saeid Mirzai. Martinez stepped up that same year to the international IMMAF platform, at the 2015 IMMAF World Championships in Las Vegas, USA – in collaboration with the UFC Fan Expo. Fighting out of Grad Prairie, Alberta, Martinez represented the Canadian national team at the 2015 IMMAF Worlds and secured three victories in as many days, competing in the Welterweight bracket. The Paraguay born contender earned the silver medal upon going the distance with eventual world champion, Will Starks. Martinez returned to the IMMAF World Championships in 2016, taking place during the historic UFC 200 International Fight Week at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Once again, Martinez dispatched of each opponent and advanced through the tournament for a much anticipated second encounter with Starks, the USA’s defending champion. The unofficial main event of the 2016 World Championships produced a classic encounter as the two high-calibre athletes went back-and-forth with Starks edging the judge’s decision. “We are talking about the elite of the elite,” Martinez told EverythingGP.com. Having competed at the top of the world amateur scene, Martinez turned professional. As he looks to join the cast of The Ultimate Fighter, he may be best the equipped man for the challenge with his background of high pressure competition – facing multiple opponents in the space of a week and coming out with two IMMAF world silver medals.]]>
