AT BRAVE INTERNATIONAL COMBAT WEEK MANAMA, BAHRAIN, 12 – 19 NOVEMBER Athletes from around the world have been invited to compete in the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation’s 2017 IMMAF World Championships of Amateur MMA. IMMAF’s prestigious nation vs nation tournament will be hosted by the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMMAF) in Manama at Khalifa Sports City Arena from 12 – 19 November, as part of Brave International Combat Week. The tournament is expected to be IMMAF’s biggest yet, drawing around 300 competitors. Endorsed by the Bahrain Olympic Committee, four preliminary days of IMMAF Amateur MMA action will culminate in professional MMA event, BRAVE, on Friday 17, followed by the IMMAF World Championship finals and medals ceremony on Saturday 18. The hosting of the 2017 IMMAF World Championships by Bahrain has been facilitated by HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who has been a driving force for the development of MMA in the Middle East and of Bahraini MMA globally. He stands as the First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Honorary President of Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Association and founder of KHK MMA (Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts Organization). The event takes place under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee. Athlete Registration Information and Deadlines: Registration is currently open solely to the top 32 ranked national teams in the IMMAF Amateur MMA Rankings. Each is permitted to enter one athlete per weight category up until September 7. On September 8, the remaining places in the tournament brackets will be opened up to application from all IMMAF member federations on a first come first served basis, with a maximum of two entries per weight category permitted per nation. The final deadline for all entries is September 28.
